In case you missed it, Vox asked me to write a piece on the significance of the Supreme Court’s recent decisions for democracy. I interviewed Maya Wiley, who ran for mayor of New York City and is now the president of the Leadership Conference on Civil and Human Rights. “Until the 1960s, we were fighting on Freedom Rides about the constitutionality of our travel — that is not enumerated in the Constitution,” she told me. “The logic of Justice Alito’s opinion puts so much on the table.”
